Earings purchased not what I thought.

I purchased a pair of earings today. When I took them off the card they were displayed on I notice the wires would hang down below the ear lobe. I find that unattractive and decided I would never wear these earings. No problem I assume since I had not even left the store. Well it turns out Piercing Pagoda will do nothing. The sales lady would do nothing. Customer service phone representative would not offer anything. I had not even left the store. I'd paid with cash. The item was not what I thought because of the way it was displayed. They could do nothing for me. I am stuck with an item I will never wear.

Piercing Pagoda in Gurnee Mills

My son saved his money to buy his first piece of jewelry, for a girl. We took him to Piercing Pagoda, as this seems to be very popular among the teens. He was shown many different lockets and "sold" on a longer chain. $80.00 later, transaction complete, my son was smiling with the achievement of making his very first purchase for a girl on his own. Well when he actually presented the gift to the lucky young lady, in front of me, they pulled it out of the box and as he began to place on her neck, the necklace literally broke apart. Yes embarassing moment, however this can be rectified, we will just take it back. That weekend we head back to the mall. I walked up to Mandy working at Piercing Pagoda and explained the entire situation and the we had there the prior weekend. Receipt in hand I showed he where the necklace came apart. She takes the necklace, box and receipt and walks to the middle work area and pulls out a ruler. I explained we donot want our money back, only to simply replace the chain. She grabs the items and returns in front of me and says..."This necklace is not the same length as what the receipt states". I said "well this is what we purchased last weekend" She looks directly at me and says well there is nothing I can do about this, I cannot exchange this item because it is clearly not the actual chain is not the item on the receipt. I said "Wait a minute, are you suggesting this is not the chain we purchased here exactly one week ago?" I said Let me speak with the manager and low and behold she says I am the manager. UGH! I said these items are the items we purchased here, AT YOUR SHOP. You had no problem selling the wrong item to us, yet now that there is a problem you will not fulfill your end. I was almost in tears because my son walked up behind me and said what's going on? I explained to him, and he could not believe that absolute rudeness and entire situation. She was so rude to me, to us I truly could not believe it. It was so blatant that I would have expected to see a video camera and later be told it was a joke. 100% uncooperative, incinuating I am basically a liar and thief and would not help me. I was so angry and appalled I asked for he corporate phone number and told her there must be someone above you I can speak with. My son was crushed, I truly never had an experience like this before and even my feelings were hurt. I will never ever shop there again and my kids love that place for jewelry. You know the best form of advertising is word of mouth and I have made sure to tell everyone I know, meet, family, friends and co-workers if this horrible experience. Needless to say, we still have an $80.00 + necklace and locket, broken, in a box. Hopefully their Christmas Sales will suffer!

The fact that Piercing Pagoda's chains are so thin that they will literally break apart by simply being placed on a person's neck speaks to the lackluster quality of their merchandise. And then to have the sales clerk accuse a customer returning the flimsly necklace of fraud based upon this fact scenario is simply inexcusable and outrageous.

I use to work for this company and since I was bored tonight, I figured I would hop on this site and see if anyone has ever had any bad experiences with this company. I was shocked to read so many complaints about Piercing Pagoda!

When I was employed with them, I loved every minute of it and I loved every smile that I made happen every day that I was there! I'm shocked that you had such a horrible experience there and I cannot believe what the Manager did to you & how she made you feel like as if it were your fault! I can understand your point but I also understand her point as well. Too many people are going to these Piercing Pagoda's and trying to scam the employees on a daily basis that this company literally lost thousands of dollars last year & because of this SCAM alone, employees are at risk of loosing their own jobs all because of what could happen by exchanging out a fake necklace for a real one!I was a manager myself with this company and I ashamed to know that so many people have such a negative history with Piercing Pagoda!

I am sorry you had this horrible service and I am sure that if you contact her district manager or someone in corporate level, then you will get your problem resolved! Next time that is!

It's to late now but just know that if anything happens next time and the personal staff does not correct the problem, get the contact information of their superior and I promise you will not regret it! good luck!

I bet you wish you would have bought that warranty now! Don't buy a thin cheap chain and expect it to last forever.

Thats why a warranty if offered so that if a thin chain breaks it will be replaced so its your fault.

I dont feel sorry for you. I got a thinner 10k chain that broke about 5 months after purchase but with my warranty i got a brand new one with no problems.

Thank you for sharing your story. That is very sad, and I understand the anger you must feel!

At least now anyone who reads this will at the very least know to check their receipt to make sure the merchandise matches up! I purchased a chain from them about a month and a half ago, and it was the cheapest peace of junk ever. It has already broken. And granted it was a very thin chain but now that it is broken I can see that the tiny little links are litterally paper thin.

They did offer me a warranty when I bought it saying that with the warranty they would replace it if anything ever happened, but of course I didn't buy that. I do not recommend them, at least for their chains, or customer service!

And I feel bad for your son! :(
